Testimonials

May 2013

“Chris spoke for about 35 minutes and covered his career from ‘Spitting Image’ to ‘Red Dwarf’ via ‘Brittas Empire’. As the son of a senior Army Officer his Military knowledge was good and the level of the humour was superb, at times the audience was in tears. He had done his research and was in tune with the Navy of today.”

“It is not often that I feel compelled to write a letter of praise, but after Chris’ wonderful performance at the Builders’ Merchants Awards for Excellence 2012, I absolutely must!

Chris certainly raised the bar. Without ego and utterly relaxed and friendly, he had the audience of 500 eating out of his hand from the very start. He turned up on the dot and was happy to have a run through; he graciously listened to my witterings about our market and assimilated the information instantly.

Then, he used all that info and spun it round with his unique wit and charm. From an audience perspective, it was like white water rafting without the water and without a raft! He took us on twists and turns and perilously close to the edge, then just when we all thought ‘OMG what’s he gonna say next?’, he eased us into hearty laughter!

The audience LOVED him and everybody I spoke to said he was the BEST HOST we have ever had in the 11 years of our Awards.

By gently taking the mickey out of some individuals, some companies and some judges, he managed to make them feel special, rather than picked on. And by gently ribbing the sponsors, he gave them far greater exposure than they would normally have had.

Chris is a true professional and a real craftsman. His ‘art’ is much more than what appears on his CV. He has a real feel for people, plus masterful talent to take charge while making it all appear so easy! The warmth of feeling from our audience was a testimony to that skill.

He was also happy to pose with pictures from a very long line of guests, again, with no ego, just kindness and friendliness.”

”I would like to say a huge thank you for last night, we have had fantastic feedback on Chris from the people attending the event. He was a real pleasure to deal with and very professional. He really made the night and we hope that he enjoyed the evening. More importantly he really got the attendees involved in the evening, which was our main aim. He made his material relevant to our sector, his onstage banter with some of the award presenters was also fantastic. The guests really found him approachable and I know he was very busy talking to fans after the event finished, so the time he gave for this is also very much appreciated. I cannot speak highly enough he was an absolute dream host.”

Fantastic! Chris was a delight to work with from start to finish. He worked with us on the script in advance of the night and really engaged with the audience. Quite apart from that he was a delight to work with and we can’t wait to use him again.

Thank you so much for being our celebrity on Saturday at the Formula Dremel Challenge at Silverstone.

We have had great feedback from the families who attended and are very grateful to you for the ‘star quality’ that you brought to the event. We all really enjoyed your Murray Walker impression and the kids and Dads loved meeting you.

“Thank you so much for attending the Microsoft Ball on the 2nd March as the Fundraising Host, your presence really added to the evening.

I have had some really positive feedback about the event and particularly your contribution. I think that your enthusiasm in the auction made a noticeable difference to the amount of money raised for the NSPCC.”

RE: SUPERDRUG CHARITY BALL

We have now finished the figures and are pleased to be able to announce that we have raised £170,000 for Breast Cancer Care.

Please thank Chris Barrie for the superb job he did as compere. The whole of the organising committee sang his praises at our de-briefing meeting recently. I’m sure his humour and professionalism contributed greatly in us raising the highest sum ever at a Superdrug Charity Ball. He was a pleasure to work with.”
