MASSIVE SERIES
The Massive Series has sadly come to an end. I have had a great time filming all three of them. I would love to tell you which has been my favourite but they were all so different I couldn’t possibly choose. In case you missed any of them, Massive Engines and Massive Machines are available on DVD at all good stockists or here and follow the instructions. Massive Speed was aired on Discovery recently but I’m sure it will be repeated soon. I will try and find out and put some dates in here so watch this space…..
If you have not seen any of the series, here’s a little summary of them all to whet your appetite, enjoy!
Massive Engines
There is nothing better than the smell of a very old, massive engine that’s been brought back to life! In this series I went in search of the biggest, baddest engines on Earth. The biggest was the size of a three story house! Each episode tells the story of how engines evolved for a different type of machine – from racing cars to jet aircraft … to massive diggers!
I had lots of fun testing-driving a mad array of machines, conducting crazy experiments to explain how things work and re-treading the footsteps of some of history’s weird and wonderful engine geniuses.
Massive Machines
Not content with just the engines being massive, my second mission was a search for the world’s most massive machines. These are the world’s heavy duty workhorses – real unsung heroes of the machine world. Highlights include being plucked out of the sea by a Sea King helicopter, pelting across the sea in a hovercraft and meeting some of the world’s weirdest leviathon’s like the fabulous Super Guppy pictured here.
Massive Speed
From the biggest to the fastest. This mission was all about the search for jaw-dropping, eye-watering, heart pounding speed. It was loads of fun and often pretty terrifying.
Some shows are about massive amounts of speed – supersonic jet fighters, the world’s fastest motorbikes and sports cars. Others tackle the challenge of how engineers produce maximum speed from really massive machines – like warships.
Highlights include test driving some wonderful bikes on the Isle of Man TT Course, driving an offshore powerboat at over a hundred miles an hour – and a sublime charge down a German Autobahn in the world’s fastest sportscar.
